JACKSON, Tenn. — A caregiver is charged with attacking a mentally and physically disabled man. Records show Eric March has worked for Support Solutions since early 2015. According to the organization’s website, they provide services to “support persons with intellectual disabilities to live their best life.” On June 14, a witness and co-worker told investigators March punched, kicked and beat a disabled client at his home in north Jackson, according to court documents. March allegedly also broke the victim’s cell phone and tossed it in the garbage. Neighbors said only one word could describe the accusations against March — shock. “That this would happen in my neighborhood — shock in general that something so violent would happen,” Rachel Phillips said. Support Solutions staff said March would have been working with the client regularly. Investigators said the victim was taken to the emergency room at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital with several cuts and bruises to his upper body and head. Charging documents said the man had to have six suture staples to treat one head wound. Support Solutions tells WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they do extensive background checks on all employees. March had a clean record and has no prior criminal history, according to court records. March was placed on suspension without pay immediately following the attack. Staff said he was terminated on Friday. His bond was set at $50,000.
