Field fire destroys 10 acres of wheat near Yorkville

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A fire sparked by a combine tractor destroys 10 acres of wheat near Yorkville. The Gibson County and Yorkville fire departments responded around 8 p.m. Wednesday to the blaze in a wheat field on Zarecor Road, according to fire officials. They say the fire was caused by sparks thrown by a loose bearing on a combine tractor, which also was destroyed. It took firefighter about an hour to get the fire under control. The Gibson County Fire Department is urging residents to be careful when working outside in the coming days because things are so dry and can easily catch fire.
