Sheriff: Man shoots wife, takes her to ER and is arrested

HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies rushed to a home on Nixon Loop in Hardin County after a family friend called 911 Friday morning. Officers found Danny and Patricia Wilkerson at Hardin Medical Center, where Danny was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder. Concerned neighbors didn’t want to speak on camera but said they’re heartbroken about what’s happened. “All these years we’ve lived here, and I’ve never heard anything bad about her,” one neighbor said. Sheriff Sammy Davidson said when deputies arrived they also found a small fire set behind a shed on the property. Though the sheriff said Patricia was shot in the left arm and side of her face, he said her current condition is unknown.
