HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Humboldt police arrested a mom after investigators said her newborn baby tested positive for drugs. Officers said Shaquailan Shanadore Walker, 24, and her newborn son both tested positive for cocaine. “I hate that,” Terry Bryson, of Humboldt, said. “I really do hate that that tragedy happened here right down the street from me.” Law enforcement said Walker lives at a house on North 13th Avenue. Police said the 24-year-old delivered the baby at a residence in Humboldt on June 10 but would not say where. Police said the baby is still in the hospital but would not give specifics about his condition. Investigators said the Department of Children‘s Services is also involved, but it is not clear who technically has custody of the child. Bryson said the neighborhood had drug activity in the past but that it is getting better. “It’s real quiet in the neighborhood right now,” he said. Police said Walker is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Investigators said she is currently free on a $10,000 bond.
