DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A woman appeared in city court Tuesday on numerous charges after being accused of causing a disturbance outside a Jackson business. Police say they confronted Patrica Martin around 3 p.m. Monday after responding to a disturbance call in the 900 block of Vann Drive, according to an affidavit. When an officer approached Martin, they say she was irate and walked toward the policeman with her hands in front of her as if she wanted to be handcuffed, the document states. Police say the officer tried to talk to Martin when she became aggressive and began yelling. When the officer tried to handcuff Martin, she then raised her hand as if she was going to punch him and then kicked him several times, according to the affidavit. Police then apprehended Martin with a Taser before taking her into custody. Martin is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Her bond is set at $5,000.
