JACKSON, Tenn. — Gov. Bill Haslam takes a stand on the state’s specialty license plate featuring the Confederate flag. Haslam told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News on Monday he’d like to see the tag phased out. When asked Tuesday about the license plate sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Haslam said he wasn’t aware it was offered. However, he’s now joining other governors across the country who want it gone. “I think it’s time to take that, put it in a museum and take it off of our license plates,” Haslam said. Along with Haslam, four other governors in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Georgia moved to have the Confederate flag removed from their license plates.
