McKenzie gets $1.8M loan for water system upgrades

McKENZIE, Tenn. — The city of McKenzie has received a more than $1 million loan to improve their water and waste water infrastructure. The $1.8 million is a low-interest loan provided by the State Revolving Fund Loan Program, according to Mayor Jill Holland. The loans are intended to help communities and utility districts along with water and waste water authorities finance projects that protect the state’s ground and surface water and public health, according to the mayor. The loan was approved by the local development authority board June 23, and the city can use the funds immediately.
