The Jackson Generals organization has confirmed to WBBJ 7 that manager Jim Horner is heading to Washington State University for an assistant job. Hitting coach Roy Howell will serve as the skipper for the rest of the year. He took over the Seattle Mariners’ Triple-A Tacoma team under similar circumstances. Horner graduated from WSU in 1996 and lead the Generals to a 29-39 record in the first half of the season. Jackson begins the second half of their schedule on Thursday in Birmingham. Their next home game is on Wednesday, July 1 against Mobile.
