Police pursue robbery suspect in east Jackson

EAST JACKSON — Police are pursuing a suspect in a strong-arm robbery with the assistance of K-9 units in a wooded area. Jackson police say the suspect fled into a woods near the intersection of Whitehall Street and F.E. Wright Drive. They describe the suspect as a black man between five feet 10 inches and six feet tall with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing jeans and no shirt. Officers say the suspect was not armed during the strong-arm robbery against an individual, which they say took place around 4:15 p.m. at a mobile home park in the 1200 block of Whitehall Street. Police say the suspect stole a cell phone during the robbery. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News will have more details as they become available.
