JACKSON, Tenn. — With West Tennessee seeing some of the highest temperatures of the year, local doctors say they’re seeing an increase in heat-related illnesses. Medical experts say it’s important to monitor what medications you’re taking and the conditions you’re working in. “People need to be aware if they are taking antihistamines-type medicines, some blood pressure medicines — things like this impairs sweating so people don’t cool off as easy and they can be subject to the heat more often,” Dr. David James said. Doctors say with high temperatures sticking around, make sure to stay hydrated and wear appropriate clothing to deal with the heat.
