JACKSON, Tenn. — As lawmakers debate the Confederate flag and major retailers pull it from their shelves, Warner Bros. Pictures takes action too. The “General Lee,” the 1969 Dodge Charger driven in the TV show “The Dukes of Hazzard,” has taken its last jump with the flag. The show, which aired on CBS-TV from 1979-1985 was filmed for Warner Bros. Television, a division of Warner Bros. Pictures. Here in Jackson, the owner of a “General Lee” replica said he has no plans to take the flag off of his car. He told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the show and the car are a piece of Americana. “It’s just so recognizable, it’s such a loved show,” said Rusty Robinson of Rusty’s Movie Car Museum in Jackson. “It’s done nothing but good for anybody. If you watched the show, it was just a good-hearted show.” Walmart, Amazon, eBay and Sears all announced bans on the sale of Confederate flag merchandise this week.
