CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — As a Los Angeles-based crew visiting West Tennessee to film a movie wrapped up their filming, the local community decided to give them a send-off with some Southern hospitality. Crockett County presented to film crew of Brave New Jersey a plaque to thank them for their contributions to the county during their visit that began May 28. The community also provided a Southern-style meal featuring ribs, barbecue, barbecue chicken, potato salad and blackberry cobbler, feeding more than 80 people. County Mayor Gary Reason and Crockett County Chamber Director Charlie Moore presented the plaque. Dr. John Freeman, owner of Green Frog, where 85 percent of the movie was filmed, also attended the event along with Maury City Mayor Rayce Castellaw, mayor of Friendship Casey Burnett and many local business owners and community members. Brave New Jersey is described as a comedy period piece — “An end-of-the-world, alien invasion comedy … where the aliens never show up,” producer Taylor Williams previously wrote in an email to WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News.
