Officer injured when patrol car rear-ended in north Jackson

NORTH JACKSON — A Jackson police officer was injured after his patrol car was rear-ended Monday evening. A woman in a southbound car rear-ended the officer’s patrol car just before 5 p.m. after he had completed a traffic stop on Pleasant Plains Extended, according to Deputy Chief Barry Michael. The officer sustained non life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance complaining of shoulder pain. The woman was not injured, according to police. It is unclear whether the patrol car’s emergency lights were on at the time of the wreck. The accident is still being investigated, and it is not yet known if citations will be issued.
