Generals take series finale in Birmingham

The Jackson Generals (2-3, 31-42) defeated the Birmingham Barons 4-0 in the series finale on Monday afternoon. Leading the team to victory was pitcher Anthony Fernandez with seven strikeouts in four scoreless innings. D.J. Peterson, Jabari Blash and Dan Paoloni all went yard with solo home runs. All-star pitcher James Gillheeney sealed up the victory with four scoreless innings. Jackson returns to action on Wednesday for a three-game series at the Ballpark against the Mobile BayBears. The trio of games culminates with an Independence Day post-game fireworks celebration on July 3.
