DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was in city court Wednesday after police say he repeatedly called and threatened his ex-girlfriend. Antonius Carter is accused of harassing the woman and then threatening her on speaker phone while police were present, according to an affidavit. Officers responded just before 1 a.m. when the woman told them Carter had recently been released from jail and had been calling her continuously ever since. Carter called the woman while police were on scene and allegedly told her he was going to kill her while police listened on speaker phone, according to the affidavit. Police made contact with Carter on Gordon Street where he was taken into custody. When officers approached the patrol car to put him inside, they say he pushed and twisted his way out of their control and ran down the street. He was arrested after a short foot chase. Carter is charged with harassment, escape and resisting arrest. He is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
