JACKSON, Tenn. — Members of the Tennessee Trucking Association want you to be safe through the holiday, and Thursday they set up stops on the interstate to show their dedication. Officials held their annual “Holiday Safety Break,” promoting safety for Tennessee’s truck drivers and the commuters they share the road with. Refreshments were made available for all drivers on interstates 40 and 75. They say it’s their way to say thanks to the drivers who bring so much business to the road. “The large trucks move about 80 percent of the goods in the united states today, and we just want to be out there to share the road with them to make sure everybody’s safe,” said Steve Stamper with YRC Freight. Road officials say 75 percent of accidents involving tractor-trailer trucks are caused by cars.
