Restaurant donates life-saving gear to sheriff’s dept.

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The sheriff’s department received 15 portable defibrillators Thursday from Firehouse Subs in north Jackson. The $18,000 grant was presented to the department Thursday afternoon. The funds come from the restaurant’s safety foundation. Sheriff’s officials say the plan is to keep the defibrillators in deputies’ cars as they patrol. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.
