Overnight fire destroys vacant house in Bolivar

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — Firefighters say a Thursday night fire that destroyed a vacant home is suspicious. The call came in around 11:30 p.m. for the fire at the Neely Street home, according to the Bolivar Fire Department. Fire officials are calling the house a total loss. The fire chief said fireworks could be to blame as some of the grass near the home also had been burned. While the fire has been deemed suspicious, there will not be an investigation because the vacant home is owned by the county, according to the fire department.
