Greenfield officials find no misuse of ‘rainy day fund’

WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — City officials have concluded the money in a mysterious “rainy day fund” had not been used inappropriately or improperly hidden. During a Greenfield City Board meeting last month, officials found nearly $280,000 in the unknown fund. Following an investigation by City Attorney Beau Pemberton involving an audit company’s search of the fund, officials say none of the money was inappropriately used or improperly hidden from city leaders. Current and former city officials were interviewed to determine where the money came from.
