DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man went before a judge Wednesday on an accusation of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Brandon Purdy was arrested Monday after police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in the 300 block of West Forest Avenue, according to court documents. Officers were able to see a handgun through a door sitting in a dish drainer on the kitchen counter, according to an affidavit. Police say the Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol was within reach of Purdy and that he is a convicted felon. Purdy is charged with unlawful carrying or possessing a firearm by a convicted felon. He already was being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond on other charges.
