EAST JACKSON — A criminal duo is to blame for a carjacking, a stolen vehicle, two wrecks and a standoff all in the course of Saturday morning, according to police. Jackson police say two black males assaulted a victim around 9 a.m. and then stole their car at the 33 Carver Avenue apartment complex in east Jackson. The pair then drove the car into Madison County, eventually flipping the car on Perry Switch Road. That’s when investigators say an off-duty JPD officer approached the wreck, but when he did the suspects tried to flee. One suspect was arrested by the officer on the scene while the other, a juvenile, ran away and proceeded to steal another car on Roberts Lane in Madison County. Officers say the juvenile then drove back into the city, caused a hit-and-run on Ray Street and then wrecked the stolen car on Middle Street. Investigators say he then fled on foot and barricaded himself inside a home on First Street where he later surrendered to police. Both men were taken to the Madison County Jail and are awaiting formal charges. Stay with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News for the latest on this developing story.
