University of Tennessee has its best fundraising year
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The University of Tennessee is coming off its best fundraising year ever, collecting nearly $235 million in donations for the Knoxville campus.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports UT had more than 39,000 donors in the fiscal year that ended June 30. The nearly $235 million in donations easily beat the previous year’s total of $131 million.
Scott Rabenold, vice chancellor for development and alumni affairs, says the gifts were prompted by excitement for UT and its future. He says he hopes the momentum continues as UT works toward a goal of increasing fundraising by 15 percent and moves toward the university’s next fundraising campaign.
The last time UT fundraising approached $200 million was nearly $190 million in fiscal year 2007 while in the silent phase of the statewide Campaign for Tennessee.
