CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — High school fishermen from across the country are in West Tennessee this week hoping to reel in a Bassmaster High School National Championship. However, a younger group got a chance to compete Friday. For the first time ever, the Junior Division Fishing Championships kicked off in Carroll County. In the competition, kids ages 8 through 14 years old are fighting for the top prize. “The lake’s got a bunch of small fish in it, but then again it’s got a lot of good ones, so we go out there, we’re going to grind it out tomorrow and do our best,” competitor Braxton Williams said. The Bassmaster High School National Championship wraps up Saturday with the final weigh-in at Bethel University.
