CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — The former technology director for the Crockett County School System has been indicted on charges including official misconduct and theft, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. “I’m kind of upset because there are so many kids out here in need of a good education, and good education costs because you need supplies, new books, a lot of things,” parent Kimberly King said. Ashley Jordan, 42, of Halls was indicted July 20 by the Crockett County grand jury on one count of official misconduct, one count of theft over $10,000 and one count of tampering with evidence, according to a TBI release. Jordan is accused of using his position to funnel business to one particular vendor and receiving kickbacks as payment, the release states. “We still feel that there was nothing improper that happened while he was working with the school system, and I believe we will be able to prove that at trial,” Attorney Mark Donahoe said. He also is accused of falsifying bids, producing false invoices and of having property belonging to the school system in his home. The TBI began their investigation June 23, 2014, and Jordan resigned his position July 21, 2014, according to the release. Donahoe said the resignation will not impact the case. “He took a different job at a different location, and people do that all the time, so in this case it doesn’t mean anything,” Donahoe said. Jordan turned himself in to TBI agents Monday and then was booked into the Crockett County Correctional Center and released on a $10,000 bond.
