Accused gunman in fatal Lincoln Courts shooting appears in court

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man charged in a deadly shooting in Lincoln Courts went before a judge Thursday. Christopher Lyles, 20, faces a count of first-degree murder among other charges. His case has been bound over to the grand jury, and he is still being held without bond. A witness of the deadly shooting testified during the Thursday hearing. Police say he and a juvenile fatally shot a man early July 17 during an attempted robbery. Lyles and the juvenile are accused of robbing two men at a 33 Carver apartment and then forcing them to walk to nearby Lincoln Courts Apartments. They then had one of the men knock on an apartment door with the intent of robbing the occupant, according to court documents. Beau Reid, 29, exited the rear of the apartment, and Lyles and the juvenile shot him multiple times, according to police. One of the men they made walk to the apartment who witnessed the deadly shooting testified Thursday.
