Police ID couple killed in north Jackson crash

NORTH JACKSON — Police have identified the two people killed in a two-car crash Thursday night in north Jackson. Thomas Hogan, known as Jay, and wife Julie Hogan of Jackson both died from injuries sustained in the wreck, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department. The driver of the other vehicle, Markarious Searchy, also of Jackson, was injured. Police say she is expected to make a full recovery. According to Jackson police, the crash happened around 9 p.m. in the 600 block of Vann Drive. A Ford Fusion driven by Thomas Hogan was facing south when he attempted to turn left onto Vann Drive from the driveway of a business, according to the release. His vehicle was then struck by a westbound Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Searchy, according to police. The Hogans had four children and had been married about a year, according to Julie’s co-workers. They say the couple had been on a date night and had just left a movie theater before the crash occurred. Julie had worked at Salon 31 on Bowling Drive in Jackson since November. No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation.
