JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson City Council agreed Tuesday to allocate funds to purchase new service weapons for every officer in the department. According to Police Chief Julian Wiser, the department will utilize a trade-in program with gun maker Glock. The department will get 268 guns, and it won’t cost taxpayers a dime. “It’s no taxpayer money,” Wiser said. “It’s all drug seizures, so we were fortunate to have that money, to be able to utilize it.” Using those same funds, the department also will get new security cameras for the main location on Institute Drive.
