Man charged with possession of illegal sawed-off shotgun

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man is facing an assault and weapons charge after police recovered a sawed-off shotgun after a reported domestic disturbance. Kevin Cole is charged with aggravated domestic assault and unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon. Police responded to a domestic disturbance between two brothers Tuesday at a First Street apartment, according to an affidavit. Police say Cole threatened his brother with the shotgun and later hid it in a dumpster across the street. Officers recovered the gun from the dumpster and found that the overall length of the gun and the length of the barrel made it a prohibited weapon, according to the affidavit. Cole is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
