JACKSON, Tenn. — Members of the Madison County Republican Party watched as the field of GOP presidential candidates squared off in a televised debate on the Fox News Channel. The group met at the Flatiron Grille in north Jackson and watched as each candidate introduced themselves to the audience and to viewers as they debated some of the hot-button issues leading up to the 2016 presidential election. “Our main goal tonight is really to learn a little bit more about the candidates, have some discussion and a little bit of debate amongst ourselves,” said Dustin Summers of the Madison County Young Republicans. Candidates for the Democratic party, such as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, now have a schedule for their first debate. A series of six debates hosted by CNN will start in Nevada in a little more than two months’ time on Oct. 13. The rest will be hosted in states like Iowa and South Carolina from November until March.
