One person arrested after Gibson Co. crash

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Crews were on the scene of a wreck Friday afternoon near Milan where the Gibson County sheriff said a man was arrested after trying to flee on foot after the crash. The crash was a nearly head-on collision on Highway 187 outside Milan, according to Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas. The call for the wreck went out around 3 p.m. A woman was traveling west when she met a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, according to Thomas. Both vehicles swerved and collided almost head-on, Thomas said. Thomas said a man got out of the other vehicle and attempted to flee by getting in the back of a pickup truck that had stopped to help. The man then tried to flee on foot and was arrested by deputies after a short foot chase, according to Thomas. Officials are unsure if the suspect was under the influence at the time of the wreck. The suspect was taken into custody, but at this time his name is not being released. According to the sheriff, neither of the drivers were seriously hurt. The wreck remains under investigation.
