JACKSON, Tenn. — A teenager charged in a deadly 2014 shooting will go to trial next week. Jernigel Blackwell will go to trial next Monday, Aug. 24, on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder. Prosecutors say on July 27, 2014, Blackwell shot and killed Shomari Peterson at Parkway East Apartments located at 33 Carver Avenue. Earlier this year, juvenile judge Christy Little determined Blackwell, who was 17 years old at the time, would stand trial as an adult.
