CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — A woman from the United Kingdom stops in West Tennessee as part of her race across the U.S. for cancer victims and war veterans. Rosie Pope started her journey in New York and said she wanted to do something that would honor her husband who died eight years ago from cancer. Tuesday, she stopped by West Carroll High School to motivate students with the meaning behind her trip. But Pope said it is not just about cancer. “If I can just give them a little more hope to help them to realize that they can do a bit more, then they perhaps sometimes think that is a great thing to do,” Pope said. Pope said when she finishes her race this spring in Hollywood, she plans to return to Tennessee to speak at a few schools.
