Man in court on charges of attacking girlfriend

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man accused of holding his girlfriend down and hitting her in the face appeared Thursday in city court. Jamecus Blackwell is charged with aggravated assault. Court papers say he strangled her and hit her with his fists. The victim told Jackson police Blackwell had attacked her in the past but that this was the first time she reported it. His bond is set at $10,000.
