JACKSON, Tenn. — A drive to add extra safety to patrol cars across the Hub City kicked off Friday. Heartbeat, sponsored by Point5Digital and several county and city officials, is a fundraiser geared toward raising $130,000 to buy nearly 100 automated external defibrillators for Jackson police and Madison County deputies’ patrol cars. Police say they don’t have any department-issued AEDs. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office recently received 15 for the department from Firehouse Subs.
