HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Investigators said they are looking for a suspect in a Friday night homicide in Henry County. Deputies said they responded around 7:30 p.m. to a report of a person being shot inside a residence along Highway 79 North in Buchanan. The victim is identified as 65-year-old Jacky Ford. In a news release, deputies wrote Ford and his 11-year-old grandson were playing a card game when they were approached by a white male in a ski mask. Investigators said the alleged gunman called Jacky by name. “As Jacky looked back to see who it was, the gunman raised up what appeared to be a black semi auto handgun and fired two shots,” the release states. The 11-year-old witnessed the shooting, according to investigators, and gave the following description of the suspect. “He said he was a white male with a sleeveless grey shirt on with some type of white writing on the back and was wearing a blue ski mask,” the release states. One woman who knew Ford from the community described him as a great man. “He’s been a really good customer for a lot of local businesses. His mother is an amazing individual. At this point in time, our hearts just go out for his grandson and for his mother,” she said. “It’s devastated a lot of people. People are scared that normally aren’t scared. They are unsure of what’s going on and what’s really going on in the neighborhood.” The gunman is believed to be in his late thirties, around six feet tall and of slender build. Investigators say they are still unsure of a motive, however they say there is no threat to the area. Sheriff Monte Belew said the sheriff’s office is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff‘s office hotline at 731-642-0929. Callers can remain anonymous. Deputies are asking anyone who may have seen a suspicious person or car near Point Pleasant Baptist Church along highway 79 North to contact officials.
