BEMIS, Tenn. — One of Jackson’s most trusted weather watchers was honored Monday by the National Weather Service. Representatives from the federal agency were in Bemis to present William Brantley his award in person. Brantley, who has been watching weather since he was a teenager, said he is honored by the distinction. “It’s about like having my name announced in a football game, you know, like ‘William Brantley made a touchdown’ or something,” Brantley said. “To me this is like a touchdown because for years since I was a teenager I have really enjoyed keeping an eye on the weather. It fascinates me.” The award is for 10 years of service.
