EAST JACKSON — A delay has some Jackson residents asking, where’s the park? The completion of the Forest Hill Park is nearly nine months behind. City officials say Keystone Construction started working on the park in May of 2014 and was supposed to be finished within five months. More than a year later, it still isn’t complete. The city says it has paid all but $30,000 of the $202,000 final bill. “I hope it’s finished by November of this year,” said Susan White, Jackson city purchasing manager. “The pavilion is out there, the restroom is ready, there’s parking so people can go ahead and use that facility now. It’s just that we don’t have the steps and the handrail and there’s some grading to be done to finish the project.” Neighborhood residents tell us they already have had to cancel numerous events including family reunions and parties they had planned to have in the park.
