Union City-based company named family-owned small business of year

UNION CITY, Tenn. — Final Flight Outfitters Inc. has been named the Tennessee 2015 Family Owned Small Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The owners of the Union City-based business, Jon Ed, Tripp and Kelley Powers, were nominated by the University of Tennessee at Martin Regional Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center in partnership with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, according to a release from UT Martin. Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration visited the company Aug. 27 to formally present the award, according to the release. Final Flight Outfitters Inc. specializes in retailing high-end hunting products, the release states. The Powers brothers started the business in a storage trailer in 1998 and now boast a showroom of over 25,000 square feet, according to the release. The company maintains a physical presence on the outskirts of Union City but also provides online shopping options and a mail-order catalog company. The brothers, all UT Martin alums, are committed to giving back to their local community and have donated more than $40,000 since the business‘s inception, the release states.
