Man & his dog walking to raise diabetes awareness

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — A man and his dog are hitting the highways — clocking more than 6,000 miles for diabetes awareness. Erik Bendl and his dog, Nice, ventured through West Tennessee Thursday. The two can be seen pushing a giant globe, and Bendl said they would love for folks to wish them luck and say “hello” if you see them on their journey. For the past six years the two have trekked through more than 40 states, encouraging people to prevent diabetes with walking and healthy eating. “We need to walk every day so they can keep diabetes under control or keep it away since it runs in my family. I am trying to keep it away,” Bendl said. Bendl is walking along Highway 70 from Music City to the Bluff City.
