Local architect gives preschool students lesson in construction

JACKSON, Tenn. — Students at Hands Up! Preschool got a close-up look at the construction industry Tuesday with a visit from a local architect. Jev Vaughn of Vaughn Associates Architects Inc. stopped by the school to show students blueprints and teach them how they are used, according to a release from the school. On Thursday, Thompson Machinery, an independently owned Caterpillar Dealer, will have construction equipment in the front parking lot of the school for students to tour and learn about, the release states. Hands Up! Preschool is in its fourth year of increasing the school readiness of vulnerable 3- and 4-year-old students in Madison County, according to the release. The program prepares students to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed with increased vocabulary, mathematics and reading skills.
