McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A national tradition honored firefighters on Sunday who have given their lives in the line of duty, and thousands of people tapped out a special signal for their community heroes, ringing the bell 15 times. Every year on the first weekend of October, churches across America including Milledgeville UMC honor fallen firefighters from their communities. The service in Milledgeville honored four fallen firefighters from their area — Jim Tuberville of the Milledgeville Volunteer Fire Department, Kenny Fox of Decaturville, Roy Austin of Sardis and Gus Losleben of Hardin County. The service held the traditional tolling of the bell that symbolizes the fallen’s last alarm. This is the 5th year the church has honored their fallen for National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
