Child airlifted after being hit by school bus while riding bike

NORTH JACKSON — Police have confirmed a child has been airlifted after being hit by a school bus while riding a bicycle in north Jackson. Sgt. Derick Tisdale with the Jackson Police department said the accident happened just before 4 p.m. on Passmore Lane off Highway 45. The bus involved in the accident transports students for the West Tennessee School for the Deaf, according to a release from the Jackson-Madison County School System. The Tennessee Highway Patrol along with the Jackson fire and police departments responded to the scene. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News has a crew on scene. Stay with us for updates in this developing story.
