JACKSON, Tenn. — Many parents arrived at the YMCA Children’s Center Monday night to find a note on the door stating that due to financial issues, the daycare would no longer be in service starting the next morning. “We got a phone call at 6 o’clock that we need to come in and pick up all our stuff because we were no longer open to take children,” said YMCA Children’s Center employee Romanette Thyer. This untimely closing left parents with about 12 hours to find another place to leave their children. Lovie Cook, owner of Miracle and Blessings Daycare, says she’s also surprised by the sudden closing but is willing to do all she can to help the situation. “I felt that it was a bad situation because trying to find a babysitter at the last minute can be very hard and stressful,” Cook said. “Parents could lose their jobs, so we’re basically here with open arms and open enrollment.” The YMCA’s corporate office is reportedly preparing a news release to address the situation.
