Weakley Co. deputies, Animal Rescue Corps recover 39 neglected animals

WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — Animal Rescue Corps assisted the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department this week in the rescue of 39 neglected animals at two unrelated properties. The rescues took place Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a release. All animals were surrendered to Animal Rescue Corps. No charges have been filed against the owners because they voluntarily surrendered all the animals, according to the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office. At one property, responders found 19 medium and large breed dogs including young puppies loose without adequate food, water or shelter. Five dogs and 12 cats were found at the other property. The dogs were in pens and on chains outside and the cats were loose on the property. All were reportedly without adequate food, water or shelter. Plans for the rescue began when the sheriff’s office called Animal Rescue Corps for assistance after receiving complaints from neighbors. For people wishing to foster or adopt, ARC will publish its list of shelter and rescue placement partners on its Facebook page once the dogs are transferred to these groups.
