Former Memphis officer pleads guilty in Humboldt court

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A former Memphis police officer charged with trying to buy drugs from an undercover officer in Humboldt has pleaded guilty. Joshua McCann pleaded guilty to possession of schedule II drugs Wednesday, according to Humboldt court officials. McCann faced drug and gun charges after police say he tried to buy hydrocodone Aug. 14 in the Walmart parking lot. A loaded handgun, 38 pills and digital scales were recovered from the car he was driving, according to police. Charges of possession of a firearm with intent to go armed and possession of drug paraphernalia have been dismissed. McCann will have to pay $2,000 in fines and court costs. He also will be placed on supervised probation as well as have mandatory alcohol and drug assessments. The sentence of 11 months and 29 days has been suspended. He has served two days in jail.
