MILAN, Tenn. — An event this weekend in Milan gives families a chance to experience living off the land like the olden days. The Fall Folklore Jamboree will feature more than 130 folk artists who will demonstrate traditional farming, cooking and home life skills. The jamboree features fun for the entire family including tractor rides and a chance to pick and gin your own cotton. Organizers say this is a good chance for kids to experience the “old fashioned” way of living. “We hope these kids kind of learn how things were done back years ago,” said Blake Brown, director of the Milan UT Ag Research Center. “Back then we didn’t have a Walmart or a grocery story on every corner, and people had to either hunt or make or build whatever they needed.” The folklore jamboree runs from 8:30 p.m. to 4p.m. Saturday at the UT Ag Center in Milan.
