JACKSON, Tenn. — Bargain hunters of West Tennessee are gearing up for the grand opening of a brand new location of the Goodwill Thrift Store in north Jackson. Goodwill will move its thrift store from its current location on Carriage House Drive to a newly constructed building on Vann Drive. “We did that to bind ourselves with the community,” store manager Melisa Williams said. The new store is more than 16,000 square feet of clothes, shoes, books, furniture, dishes, and more. Goodwill is hosting its grand opening on Tuesday, October 20. “It’s gonna be great. There’s tons of product. There’s a lot of merchandise for people to buy from and just great deals,” Goodwill manager David Gibson said. For many people Goodwill is more than just a store, it’s an avenue that has changed their lives. “Goodwill means to me stability. It’s a great place to work and it’s a great place to give back to the community just like what they give back to us,” Gibson said. “Goodwill means to me a new beginning. When I was out of a job, they gave me a job got me back on track,” William Poston said, a Goodwill employee for the past nine months. Williams said the new store is a blessing to the employees that have been with the North Jackson location. “I know they’ve worked very hard and it’s something we have been anticipating for about a year and a half. To see it finally open tomorrow is a dream come true for them ,” she said. The store is hosting a grand opening ceremony, Tuesday, beginning at 8 a.m. The Goodwill store will give away bags to the first 500 customers and hold drawings for other prizes.
