MILAN, Tenn. — Local hunters are teaming up to take a shot at hunger in West Tennessee. “Hunters Sharing the Harvest” will host a fundraising banquet and auction, Tuesday. The group will use the funds to help pay for deer meet processing, which will be donated to area food banks, senior citizens centers and other groups serving the under privileged. Organizers said their goal is to give back as much as possible. “Some people just have unfortunate circumstances and we can play a part in feeding those in need,” said Grant Newell. “It’s just great to be able to help out.” In 2008, the organization was started by about a dozen men in Milan. Since then, it has distributed more than 33,000 pounds of meat to those in need in Gibson, Carroll, Crockett and Lake Counties.
