State Fire Marshal’s office discusses building code changes

JACKSON, Tenn. — The state fire marshal held a meeting in Jackson, Monday. Homeowners, inspectors, and other community leaders were in attendance to discuss proposed building code changes. The State Fire Marshall’s Office is holding meetings like this across the state to discuss a new rule regarding changing requirement for one and two family dwellings and townhouses. “I’m glad it was very well attended, said Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance Deputy Commissioner Gary West. “What we’re gonna do is take what we’ve heard back to Nashville and look at some of these things.” Currently, the Notice of Rulemaking to amend Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0780-02-23 of One and Two family dwellings by the Division of Fire Prevention is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, November 2, in the 6th Floor Conference Room of the Davy Crockett Tower at 500 James Robertson Parkway Nashville, TN 37243.
