NORTH JACKSON — Dozens of sixth graders from across Jackson will gather Saturday at Union University to further their education. It’s all to kick off the MentorU program, a collaboration between all five of the Hub City’s colleges and universities. The program is designed to help students consider future college and career opportunities. “To begin feeling comfortable on college campuses with professors and students, it all sort of gives them the opportunity to aspire toward that end,” said Mary Anne Poe with Union University. Students, faculty and staff from each of the five colleges will serve as one-on-one mentors to the sixth graders.
